This step by step How To guide shows you how to successfully Insulate your Hot Tub, with the help of the Insulation Kit For Hot Tubs we have put together.
This kit is designed to save you money when running your hot tub, as once insulated less energy is required to maintain the desired temperature!

Firstly measuring may be easier with 2 people, having someone to hold the tape in place helps. TOP TIP: If you have a sewing/fabric tape measure, this will make this step easier for those who have a round Hot Tub. If you have a round Hot Tub, simply measure the circumference. If you have a square hot tub, you can measure one side length and multiply this by 4. If you have a rectangular Hot Tub, measure the shorter side, multiply this by 2, then measure the longer side and multiply by 2. Then add these 2 figures together for your total. Take note of your measurements in preparation for cutting.
Checking the height of your hot tub is important, it should not exceed 1.2m, but if it does, Contact Us. The height of the tallest hot tubs tends to be no higher than 1 metre (100cm). Your tub height should range from between 70cm - 100cm.
Taking the measurements from Step 1, relating to the perimeter of your hot tub, Add 70mm to this figure. TOP TIP: Pull the Insulation taut, prior to cutting with the Multifoil Insulation Scissors. This will compress the layers and make it easier to cut through. If you prefer, you can utilise a cutting knife instead, but ensure that the insulation is taut and therefore compressed beforehand.
Removing the side panels may vary depending on the type of Hot Tub you have, but you are likely to need a screwdriver for this stage. The Hot Tub panels are likely to have screws on / around each of the corners. If you can remove the side panels, without removing the corner panels, this is ideal.
You can now start installing the Insulation material. Begin by tucking the multifoil behind the corner panel / strip, which will help to secure the insulation in place. This image shows how to tuck the material in at the top and at the bottom edges, by tucking in these places you are minimising heat escaping and cold air entering. Repeat this around the perimeter of the hot tub.
Usually we advise keeping the multifoil in a continuous insulation layer, but in this instance there are certain parts such as the control panel and pipe work, that you may need to leave accessible / exposed. Cut around these areas with the Multifoil scissors provided. Be careful to ensure you don't cut anything other than the Multifoil Insulation.
After you have insulated around the whole perimeter of the hot tub (excluding the areas cut) then there should be a little excess insulation, this can be used to create a slight overlap, in preparation for taping.
Using the Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape in the kit, start by taping where you have just overlapped the insulation. Then you can tape and seal around any edges where air may enter or exit. Your aim is to keep the multifoil in a continuous layer as much as you can, so taping over any areas where warm air may escape or cold air may enter is important.
After all taping has been finished, its time to reattach your tubs side panels, checking they are securely screwed on as before. Then its time to enjoy your newly Insulated Hot Tub.... Enjoy it for longer, whilst happy that you are using less energy than you did previously.
