Why the Price Increases?

Since 2016 there has been a somewhat crisis on Rigid PIR Insulation. PIR is short for Polyisocyanurate. A key element in the manufacturing of Polyisocyanurate is MDI.

MDI came in short supply when a production plant overseas caught a large scale fire. This created a huge knock-on effect, with lead times and costs rising at a un-sustainable rate.

By the end of Q4 in 2017, materials such as Kingspan and Celotex had increased by 24%, in just 12 months. Since this time the prices had remained static.

This was until the price increases this month, which will make PIR Insulation no longer feasible to use for many construction firms.
