EcoQuilt65 is the most efficient Multifoil Insulation in our collection. This revolutionary multifoil, developed by Ecohome Insulation, is a 3-in-1 insulation blanket with a thickness of 65mm. It boasts 19 layers, including reinforced heavy-duty laminated foil outer layers, reflective foil PET layers, and recycled loft quilt layers.
This is the latest addition to the EcoQuilt range following the popular EcoQuilt Expert and EcoQuilt45. Its primary function is the provide excellent thermal insulation, which also offers a VCL (Vapour Control Layer) and reflective barrier. By including a vapour control layer, you can protect your project against condensation and dampness.
Application for EcoQuilt65
With a core R-value of 2.040m²K/W that has been tested in-house, EcoQuilt65 stands out as our highest-performing product. This impressive core R-value translates to a pitched roof or flat roof R-value of 2.94m²K/W. In a stud wall or timber frame wall, you can expect an R-value of 3.38m²K/W. For floors, EcoQuilt65 can provide an R-value of up to 4.73m²K/W. EcoQuilt65 is available in rolls of 1.5m x 10m.
A Comparison of EcoQuilt65 and SuperFoil’s SF40
EcoQuilt65 and SuperFOIL’s SF40 have been compared in a side-by-side test.
According to SuperFOIL SF40 has an approved central R-value of 2.57m²K/W. This information was obtained from an outdated BBA certificate, which tested the product ar a significantly thicker size of 86.1mm. However, SF40 is currently being sold at a thinner size of 65mm and as a result, its BBA certificate is no longer valid.
After conducting identical tests using the same methods between the two products, it was found that EcoQuilt65 has a higher R-value of 2.040m²K/W, making it 4% more thermally efficient and providing significant cost savings.
The EcoQuilt65 is produced, designed and manufactured near Sheffield, UK. On the other hand, SuperFOIL’s SF40 is an imported item from China that does not currently posses any accreditation for building control.

What is EcoQuilt65?
Ecohome Insulation's EcoQuilt65 is a ultra-performance multifoil insulation designed for use in a variety of building applications. It's extremely popular in loft conversions and wall constructions.
How to install EcoQuilt65?
EcoQuilt45 is installed by fixing directly on timer, such as studwork or joists. It is generally stapled or nailed. Overlaps and joins are taped and sealed with Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape.
Do I need to use battens with this product?
To gain the best thermal benefits, it is essential to have air-gaps both sides of the insulation. This allows EcoQuilt65 to expand and reflect on both sides. These cavities can be created by battens, or existing timbers e.g. Rafters or Studwork.
Can I use this product to insulate my loft?
Yes, EcoQuilt65 is suitable for insulating either the sloping rafters, or loft floor level.
Do I need to use a foiled-back plasterboard?
When EcoQuilt65 is the most internal insulation layer, it will work as a high-performance Vapour Control Layer, reducing condensation. If this method is followed, there is no requirement for a Foiled-backed plasterboard.
Is EcoQuilt65 waterproof?
When EcoQuilt65 is taped and sealed, it does not allow any moisture to pass through.
Can you recycle EcoQuilt65?
Whilst EcoQuilt65 is not available for recycling, it is made of approx 60% recycled materials. EcoQuilt65 also will not shrink or degrade over time, and will last the lifetime of the application!
What’s the best method to cut EcoQuilt65?
We recommend cutting EcoQuilt65 either with Multifoil Scissors or a cutting knife. Both are found in our Multifoil Insulation Fitting Kit.
