Latest Update: U-value Increases
Latest Update: U-value Increases
The following blog will discuss the most recent changes to building regulations, in particular the latest update on U-value increases.
Why are these changing?
Currently, heating and powering buildings in the UK accounts for 40% of our total energy usage. Making buildings more efficient will reduce the demand for energy, therefore saving homeowners money on their energy bills.
Increasing the level of insulation in roofs, walls and floors will improve the achievement of U-values. This means with lower U-values in place, there will be a reduction in the requirement for heat and power in homes.
As part of the Department Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, they are aiming to half all energy usage by 2030. Their mission for this can be found at the following link – Click Here!
When are the changes happening?
The Amendment Regulations and accompanying Approved Documents L: Volumes 1 and 2 came into force on 15 June 2022.
These changes however will not apply should the plans have been deposited to a local authority before this date, and started prior to 15 June 2023.
